Rev. Angie Wright is the Associate Director for Greater Birmingham Ministries. She founded and served as the pastor of Beloved Community United Church of Christ in the Avondale neighborhood of Birmingham for 16 years and recently retired from that position. She formerly served as the Associate Director of the Birmingham Center for Affordable Housing, Executive Director of Leading Edge Institute, and Director of the Hurricane Katrina Resettlement Program of Alabama. She was the co-founder of Alabama Arise. Angie served on the staff and Board of the BEAT revitalization effort in Ensley. While living in Durham, North Carolina from 1989 – 1993, Rev. Wright founded the Good Work Self-Employment Project and served as Executive Director of the Durham Affordable Housing Coalition. She is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She has a M.Div. from Duke University and a B.A. from Davidson College in North Carolina. Angie has two sons and two dogs.
