“It’s All Because of God”: GBM Patron Beats Homelessness

Michelle Provo has beat homelessness, but continues to have a hard time making ends meet. When she needs help with food, clothes, and utilities for herself and her grandchildren, who she helps care for, she comes to GBM.

“They really help you out here. I get clothes for myself and my grandkids,” Michelle said. She first started coming to GBM when she was homeless and living at First Light Women’s Shelter. GBM and other local organizations have been there for her on her road to recovery from drugs and alcohol.

“If you need someone to talk to, you can go to [GBM]. Mary never puts you down. She’s always encouraging and tells you things going on in the community that will help you,” Michelle said, smiling. “All this—me getting out of that mess I was in—it’s all because of God.”
