Leaning Into Your Faith at the Voting Booth

In Alabama, religion plays a strong role in faith and politics. In what has been historically called the Bible Belt region of the Southern U.S., worship attendance across denominations in Alabama is generally higher than the nation’s average. However, Alabama is home to multi-faith demographics and is home to some who profess no faith at all. Most people, whether of faith or not, would support the tenets of the Golden Rule, a value generally found in most religions and creeds, which is a principle of treating others as one wants to be treated. The question is, does the principle of “doing unto others” apply when we step into the voting booth? Should our vote demonstrate our care for one another and for God’s creation? Or should our vote simply reflect personal individualism?

Hear from these inspiring faith leaders for this faith-based civil discourse on leaning into your faith when you vote for the candidate of your choice.
