Our Power of Participation workshops address the history of voter suppression, current barriers to voting, how voter turnout really can make a difference, and what it could look like for our representatives to truly reflect our demographics and our values. We have converted these workshops into virtual gatherings in order to adapt to the pandemic restrictions.
We have also partnered with the Birmingham Municipal Court to offer this training as an online class that will allow participants to receive community service hours. Through online and community service-learning, students explore definitions of civic engagement as it relates to community and civic leadership, impactful change, and its historical context.
